Annual Juried Art Show
Burien Art’s Annual Juried Art Show is an outstanding FREE opportunity right here in the Burien/Greater Highline area for residents and visitors of all ages to enjoy viewing new works of art by talented, emerging artists working in a variety of media. By exhibiting fresh and exciting new art in our local communities it is Burien Arts’ intent to engage the public in experiencing the artists’ creative views of our world, and to appreciate the artists’ use and mastery of various techniques and materials in self-expression. In so doing it is Burien Arts’ intent to enrich everyday life for those living and working in the communities we serve.
The Annual Juried Art Show is also one of the very few opportunities for emerging artists of the Puget Sound region to be juried by a panel of professional artists, gallery owners, and museum curators for entry in a high caliber public art exhibition in the Seattle metropolitan area. Remarks by one of last year’s art jurors capture the spirit and the intent of Burien Arts in presenting the Annual Juried Art Show:
“Puget Sound is certainly fortunate to have such a wealth of artistic talent in its midst. I was quite impressed with the overall high level of inventiveness, vision and technical skill demonstrated by the artists who submitted entries to this juried process. Congratulations to those whose work hangs in the community center today. To those who were not successful this round, please know how difficult our job as a jury was in the selection of so many pieces of high quality, and that three different jurors would most likely have put together a different show. All artists have not been selected at one time or another. But a great artist keeps looking at the work of their peers and keeps struggling to fulfill and refine their own unique vision.”
