Shakespeare in the Park
Burien Arts has presented GreenStage productions of Shakespeare plays in local parks since 2006.
2025 Production
This summer Burien Arts will present the GreenStage production of Shakespeare’s popular comedy Much Ado About Nothing. The plot revolves around the ups and downs of two couples. Identities are mistaken and duos separated, but love triumphs in the end.

Past Productions
Burien Arts has been bringing two Shakespeare plays to area every summer in July and/or August since 2008. The plays are produced and performed by the Seattle metro summer Shakespeare company GreenStage. Admission is free.
Local park venues include Lake Burien School Memorial Park, 1620 SW 149th Street, Burien, Dottie Harper Park, 421 SW 146th Street, Burien, and Marvista Park, 19990 4th Ave. SW, Normandy Park. The audience brings their folding camp chairs and a picnic. Rest rooms and a children’s play area are available.
2024: We presented Twelfth Night on Friday, August 2, in Lake Burien School Memorial Park, Burien.
2023: We presented King Henry VI, Part 1, in Lake Burien School Memorial Park, Burien, on Sunday, July 30 and Romeo and Juliet in Marvista Park, Normandy Park, on Sunday, August 6.
2022: We presented Henry V on July 23 and Pericles, Prince of Tyre, on July 30 at Dottie Harper Park, Burien.
2021: We presented Backyard Bard, abbreviated versions of The Tempest and Twelfth Night on July 31 and Midsummer Night’s Dream on August 7, both by Shakespeare and both at Marvista Park, Normandy Park, sponsored by the City of Normandy Park and the Normandy Park Arts Commission. The park had space for distancing per the then-pandemic regulations, together with restrooms, parking, and a nice children’s play area.
2020: GreenStage canceled its 2020 summer season due to the ongoing pandemic. The two productions planned were Midsummer Night’s Dream and Henry V, both by Shakespeare.
2019: We presented Henry IV, Part 2 and The Taming of the Shrew, both by Shakespeare, at the Lake Burien School Memorial Park.
2018: We presented Henry IV, Part. 1, by Shakespeare and The Three Musketeers (based on the novel by Alexandre Dumas), at the Lake Burien School Memorial Park.
History
Burien Arts and Greenstage have been presenting Shakespeare plays together in our local parks since 2008.
